Workshop Cancelled
The Hypertext 2004 conference regrets to announce that the Geographic
Hypermedia workshop has been cancelled, due to insufficient response.
However, there will be a paper session on Ubiquitous Hypermedia in the main
conference.
FINAL CALL FOR
PAPERS - NEW DEADLINE: JUNE 1st (FIRM)
International Workshop on Geographic Hypermedia
in
conjunction with
ACM Hypertext 2004, Santa Cruz, August 9-13, 2004
WORKSHOP TITLE
"Geographic
Hypermedia: Concepts and Systems."
Duration: 1 day - August 9, 2004
WORKSHOP THEME AND GOALS
The integration of the Web and Multimedia technologies with
Geographical Information Science (GIS) has recently lead to the development of new forms of multimedia geo-representations.
Currently, many geomatics solutions are web-based and provide access to multimedia elements in order to support efficiently
specific application domains. The scope of this workshop is to allow multi-disciplinary researchers in the area of Geographic
Hypermedia present their present work and exchange ideas.
The objectives of this workshop are:
-
Surveying the state and variety of research areas in geographic hypermedia
-
Reviewing the current state-of-the-art geographic hypermedia applications
-
Providing guidance to geographic hypermedia system implementers
from user experience
-
Surveying geographic hypermedia for open questions and future
research directions
WORKSHOP TOPICS
Among the expected topics would be:
-
Hypermedia GIS and Spatial Decision Support
-
Geographic Hypermedia Database Management and Exploration
-
Geovisualization
-
Virtual and Augmeneted Reality
-
Location Based Services and Geographic Messaging Services
-
Hypermedia Cartography
-
Hypermaps and Hypermedia Atlases
-
Web-based and Virtual Wayfinding Services
INTENDED AUDIENCE
Geographic hypermedia system developers, Geo-scientists (e.g.,
geographers, geologists, foresters, etc.), Cartographers, Computer Scientists generally interested in hypermedia applications which
involve geographic data.
SUBMISSION DETAILS
Papers should be 10 to 15 pages in length (using: times, 10pt,
single-spaced) and should be submitted no later than May
21st, 2004 in pdf format via e-mail to stefanakis@ais.fraunhofer.de or estef@hua.gr
A Program Committee of senior researchers (see next) will
review the submitted papers.
Accepted papers will be provided in a volume and/or CD-ROM to the
workshop participants. A book edition with (extended versions of) the workshop papers will be
